After making the mini flamingo a few weeks ago I knew we needed a larger version that still works up super quickly! And the free pattern is ready for you today! Meet Fiona the Flamingo, she measures 15 inches tall and is ready to fly. She's a modification from our fun Ballerina Ostrich pattern that was released last year! Just like the mini version her body and head are made as one piece. You will only need to sew her wings, tail and legs! I've also shortened her neck just a smidgen to help keep it strong. Tight stitches and firm stuffing will also hold her head high. This is a beginner pattern with slight sewing and would be a great project if you've been on the fence about trying amigurumi. You can also check out our Tips to Learning Amigurumi to walk you through the basics! This post contains affiliate links, for more information check out our disclosure page here! Thank you so much for supporting Grace and Yarn! Pattern PIN here to save for a later project! Grab the ad-free PDF version in my Etsy or Ravelry shop! Want to be notified of new patterns as they release? Join our newsletter here! You may make and sell items made from this pattern but please do not sell, share or reproduce the actual pattern. If you sell finished items online (Etsy, etc) please provide a link to the pattern and credit to me as the designer, thank you. I hope you enjoy this pattern! Cute crochet jellyfish would be a perfect gift for someone who has given birth to a premature baby or for your little one. HOW IT WORKS: This inventive idea originally appeared in Demark where doctors observed premature babies with their crocheted toys. The babies that cradled their octopus had overall health improvements with their breathing, regular heartbeat, strong oxygen blood levels. Overall, the prescence of the tiny crochet toy acted as a great calming effect on the babies. When babies hold and play with the tentacles it makes them feel grounded and safe. MATERIALS AND EYES: This crochet toy for preemie made of 100% cotton yarn. It's stuffed by non-allergic polyester filling. Eyes are embroidered for perfect safety. SIZE: The jellyfish is 6x6 cm (2,4x2,4’) without tentacles and 18 cm (7’) with them. ATTENTION: The cute jellyfish toy is eco-friendly, hypoallergenic and safe for babies. Although strongly recommend adult supervision when child playing with it. CARE INSTRUCTIONS: This toy is machine washable at 40°C degrees (104°F). Don't use dryer. CUSTOMIZATION: I love to accept your custom order. For example, you can create your own color set for the jellyfish. If you have any questions, please contact me. The toy is made by me in a smoke-free area without pets, but filled whit love and warm. The jellyfish will make a perfect and unique gift for a new baby, a baby shower, birthday or a special occasion. Please take into consideration that the actual colour might be slightly different than your computer display. And a couple of facts about me. I crochet about two and a half years. Because they are eco-friendly baby toys, they are safe to touch and they make great teething toys for babies. You can also place them in a large, wicker basket so they have something to tote them around in. At first, you may have to model dramatic play for your child since they are just making sense of the world and using their imagination. Whether you play garden, kitchen, restaurant, or hide and go seek with them; rest assured-they’ll be engaged for hours. Crochet fruits and vegetables are also idea educational toys. Here are some benefits of playing with this activity toy: · Encourages speech-Many baby toys light up or make sounds; virtually leaving nothing for the baby to do because the “playing” is done for them. But, when playing with crocheted fruits and vegetables, it is up to the child to make up a story in their mind about the object and what they are doing. They also help children name each individual fruit and vegetable. Labeling is the first step in the speech process. · Develop Sorting Skills-Toddlers will learn which items are fruits and which items are vegetables. They will learn how to place each into the proper category based on shape and size as well, making the crocheted objects ideal science toys for kids. · Helps Learn Colors-Toddler toys should help little ones learn colors. Because the fruits and veggies come in a vibrant assortment, babies and kids get exposed to this concept early on. · Promotes Counting-These fruits and veggies help babies understand the concept of numbers, toddlers count to ten, and even pre-school children skip count by two’s and three’s. So, they will grow with your child, making them a long term investment. Have an upcoming baby shower? Or, do you just need a really great gift to give to a special child in your life? If so, consider picking up some crochet fruits and vegetables so they can sink their teeth into something safe and spark their imaginations with something unique, fun, and safe to play with.
